Our History

Edgerton Public Library was formed as an Association in May 1985.  The founding members were: Eleanor Hobbs, Beth Belik, Marlene Colp, A.M. Rae, and Mary. A. Whitby. The Edgerton Public Library of 2018 is fortunate to have one the founding members, A.M. Rae as a current member.

The Library began at the Edgerton Public School in 1980. Their next move was to the old shoe repair store in the front of Tom Tribe’s home which is located north of the Edgerton Agricultural Hall. The Library made a move to the Edgerton Electric building in 1989 just next door to its’ old location. With being in this building the Library paid rent of $350.00 monthly.

In 2003 the Edgerton Village purchased the Jo’s Variety building which was located on main street for the Library to move into and to call home. In 2015 Edgerton Village had built a Municipal Building to house their office and the Edgerton Public Library at 5037-50 Ave.

The Edgerton Public Library became a member of the Norther Lights Library System in 1999.
